BLACKBURN & INDIAN MOUND PARK SPRAYGROUND

COLUMBUS, OH | SITE PLANNING AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

At Blackburn Park the challenge was to maintain the existing infrastructure while adding the new. As a result, careful consideration to match the existing brick with the old, while improving the precast panel supports and creating a seating area with a shade pavilion at the water storage tank. Instead of a standard HVAC unit the implementation of an open air rest room facility was selected requiring extensive evaluation of roof pitch options to ensure proper ventilation. In order to capture and recycle the water, trench drains around the perimeter of each sprayground were installed. These drains then fed the main inlet at the center of the sprayground and sends the water to the holding tank to be recycled.
