COLUMBUS, OH | SITE PLANNING AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

This high end apartment site is part of an urban in-fill project in the Italian Village District of downtown Columbus, Ohio. Programming for the buildings includes a variety of commercial spaces on the ground floor with residential above. On the public side of the development POD Design developed concepts for an enhanced streetscape along almost a city block of High Street and Hubbard Avenue that includes new paving, site furnishings and street trees. A courtyard space offers residents a private outdoor common area designed to maximize opportunities for relaxation, social functions while providing great views for the residential units above. The outdoor area is designed to provide a set of distinct, but interconnected, spaces that can be used as intimate gathering spots for small groups or as one unified setting for larger events. Elements of the courtyard include an entry fountain, barbecue area with seating, an outdoor wet bar pavilion, a sunken fire pit lounge, artificial turf multi-purpose lawn, quiet seating areas and sculpture gardens.
