POD Staff completes horticultural tharapy training at the Chicago Botanic Garden.

The Chicago Botanic Garden’s Horticultural Therapy Services Program serves as a resource for information for Horticultural Therapists who practice in hospitals, rehabilitation and vocational facilities, nursing homes, and senior centers. The specific topics covered in the program include barrier-free greenhouse and enabling garden design, sensory landscaping, and horticultural therapy program planning.

Our goal in completing this training is to better understand the needs of the therapists and the impacts of on site design. The Buehler Enabling Garden at the Chicago Botanic Garden is a world-class model promoting garden design, tools, equipment, and techniques that engage people of all abilities in gardening.
