In collaboration with Bobbi Strangfeld and Gayle Ficken-Clark of the Greater Cincinnati Master Gardeners, POD Design’s Sharon Floro led a unique design effort this spring to create an outdoor learning environment for Vermont School First and Third Graders in Wyoming, Ohio.  Using inspiration from students and guidance from teachers Jason Knepp and Adam Beard, Sharon focused her expertise on designing an ideal outdoor classroom.

The students’ input directed choices on special native-planting niches that included; herb, butterfly, cut flowers, and pollinator gardens. Sharon then developed the design layout for the gardens which included; erosion control recommendations, the layout of steps and pathways, and a master planting plan.  The best part of the whole process, you ask? Sharon got to get her hands dirty along with the kids who also worked hard at installing the garden!
